I can’t believe I never reviewed my favorite Japanese restaurant in Jakarta. This is Sushi Tengoku – By far THE BEST sushi/ sashimi spot for everyone. While there is no argument about the overall quality of the food, its interior seems to remain in the 90s. If you are not overly concerned with the interior of the shop, then this place is a clean cut 5-star restaurant. Sashimi slices are perfectly marinated, and the thickness of the fish meat is incomparable to anyone out there. The are very generous with the portion, so do not over order food.

Great review! You know, the dated interiors you mentioned for this Japanese restaurant remind me of similar establishments here in the Philippines. There’s one restaurant I recently checked out that appeared to be stuck in the 1990s (when Japanese cuisine was just starting out in Manila), but just like this restaurant in JKT — the food has been consistently good for more than 3 decades.
