[KR] Noryangjin Fish Market 노량진 수산시장 @ Noryangjin 노량진, Seoul

This was just one incredible experience. A 6-star experience out of 5. I will always come back for more. Actually, we ended up coming back during our trip to Seoul. The dining system at Noryangjin 노량진 goes like this: You buy the fish and other seafood ingredients at the wholesale market and have them delivered to the desired restaurant at the back or upstairs. The fish will be cut into raw slices at the market and delivered to the restaurant while the crabs, seashells and others will be processed at the restaurant. We had the fish at Wando Susan 완도수산 and crabs, shrimps, oysters and seashells at Bugun Kkotgye 부건꽃계.Super nice and highly reliable.

We decided to eat at Seoul eui dal (Seoul’s Moon; 서울의달). Seoul’s Moon is a spacious spot located on the 5th floor of the West end of Noryangjin 노량진. It has easy access to the toilet and smoking facilities.

  • We started off with my favorite oysters and they were amazingly fresh. Add some chojang 초장 and everything just melts in your mouth.
  • Next came the sashimi. They were also extremely fresh. The fish cuts were not the sashimi cuts you see in Japanese restaurants nor are they marinated in any way. Pure fish meat from the sea directly to your mouth. Add a bit of soy sauce with wasabi and you are good to go.
  • Next we had the steamed clam. It made us feel like we were sitting right next to the sea. Soft, tender and juicy.
  • Moving on to the tiger prawns and shrimps. The tiger prawns were so big that we couldn’t resist. They were grilled and cut open for easy access to the meat. I believe they were butter grilled so they were beautifully nutty. You can hear the sound of meat being grinded by your teeth. Super fabulous. Shrimp was also fat in size and shrimp meat was so addictive that you had to reach out for more.
  • The king crab was the pinnacle of the seafood party. We asked the shop to break it down for us with extra cost. Words can’t express how juicy and tasty the crab meat was. They were thick, rich in meat and flavorful without any seasoning. Just pure form of thick and juicy meat. You will never forget this crab experience.  The last part was the fried rice inside the crab shell, and boy oh boy… This was another addictive menu that kept me eating for more.
  • The finale menu was the seafood soup with the leftover fish parts. Incredibly thick and deep. Soothing whatever alcohol that’s inside your body.

Noryangjin Seafood Market 노량진수산시장 is a must-visit foodie destination in Seoul. Make sure you get some info when you visit the place and always go with a party of 4 and above. I recommend the following menu:

  • Sashimi cuts
  • Tiger prawns
  • King crabs
