Mie Ayam is one of my favorite food addictions here in Indonesia. I love the simpleness, diversity, and the richness of the cuisine. My Indonesian friend invited me to his favorite mie ayam place in the upper part of Jakarta – Pluit. The place is called Asli Mie Keriting P. Siantar. Unlike the widely used chicken (Muslims are forbidden to consume pork), mie keriting uses pork for the protein fillings. Noodle texture was a bit different from the mainstream, pork and mushroom were well seasoned, serving was over-sized, and definitely no MSGs. Indeed, you could taste that the chicken soup that came with the noodle was a bit empty in taste. The place is left unchanged over the past 40 years.
