Bee Chen Hiang’s flagship product – bakkwa – is a jerky-like smokey roasted pork slices. Bee Cheng Hiang bakkwa is one of the most favored snack souvenirs from Singapore. Pork chucks are roasted, caramelized and packaged for easy consumption. Meat has strong caramel taste to it (not just on the outside but in full) and easily breaks up inside the mouth. I am suspecting that the meat is shredded, flavored and combined again before being packaged into small slices. Meat slices have burnt edges, however, does not deteriorate the overall flavor. It’s a great snack for all ages and occasions.
