BBQ Chicken BBQ치킨 is the pick when it comes to my boys’ choice of fried chicken. We took a quick visit to BBQ Chicken BBQ치킨 near Yeongtong Station 영통역. The shop had couple of tables for dine-in, but most of the orders came in through the machine. We heard 4 online orders during our visit there. The shop was operated and managed by a young Vietnamese lady.

As always, we ordered the Golden Olive Oil Fried Chicken. When the chicken was served each chicken cuts had glowing golden touch of olive oil to it. In addition, the aroma was just so satisfying. It literally made me want to pick a drumstick up and start munching on it. At the bite, you obviously will squeeze out the oil but it was not greasy at all. Just perfect. The outer skin was amazingly crispy and savory while the inner meat was super juicy and so tender. Final verdict, I would have BBQ Chicken BBQ치킨 again, but have it delivered.

- Golden Olive Oil Fried Chicken

Excerpt from The Korea Times
When Genesis BBQ introduced “golden olive oil fried chicken” to the country in 2007, most consumers thought it was just another ordinary deep-frying oil and didn’t pay much attentions to the nutritional facts. To consumers, olive oil didn’t particularly stand out from other cooking oils made from corn, beans, canola seeds, grape seeds or sunflower seeds.
The company’s Chairman Yoon Hong-geun, however, waited patiently. He was the one who found out about olive oil’s nutritional strengths in 2002 when he was planning to expand the company’s consumer market to Spain and decided to use it in the company franchisees’ kitchens. He slated golden olive oil fried chicken as the company’s signature dish and has been sticking to it ever since.
Now, golden olive oil fried chicken has become the signature of the company. While olive oil has been sizzling under the brand, the company mushroomed its local chains to over 2,000, the biggest number in the fried chicken industry, and to over 700 shops in 57 countries in North America, Central America and Southeast Asia.

Want to compare BBQ Chicken with Indonesian chicken?

Interesting that you tried that one out! bb.q Chicken also has a franchise in the Philippines, though I noticed that its flavored versions are more popular among Filipinos.
I think the same goes to Indonesians. However, Koreans prefer the unflavored original recipe. Never would anyone thought of frying chicken with that expensive olive oil.
