[KR] Dae Ryun Jib 대련집 @ Jongro 종로, Seoul

Dae Ryun Jib 대련집 is a Bossam 보쌈 (steamed pork belly) shop. It was a late dinner, but the signboard was turned off (maybe to save electricity) and there was a long line of customers. Also time seemed to have stopped in Dae Ryun Jib 대련집 – inside was like back to the 80s. This was my second visit (first review link attached at the bottom).

Bossam 보쌈 was served in uneven chunks but there was no pork smell and the texture was amazingly tender. Dip it into the shrimp-based spicy sauce and nothing else matters. You will soon notice that this is high quality meat. Seafood Pajeon 해물파전 was also nice and crispy. With decent amount of squid cuts. It was a bit soggy in the middle and I think they could improve there. It wasn’t the best Parton 파전 but good enough for our team to enjoy. Bookuh Jjim 북어찜 was not its flagship menu, so I dont think I would re-order the menu. However, considering this is a Bossam 보쌈 shop, I can forgive. Sagol Kalguksu 사골칼국수 was extremely bland and our Indonesian guests didn’t touch the dish. However, I enjoyed it as it was so soothing. Overall, one thing to note is that the food may be a bit bland for foreign consumers.
