The place

Han Mi Ok 한미옥 is located near Apgujung Rodeo Station 압구정로데오역 specializing in Gujeolpan 구절판. According to Wikipedia, Gujeolpan 구절판 refers to either an elaborate Korean dish consisting of nine different foods assorted on a wooden plate with nine divided sections in an octagon shape or the plate itself. The name is composed of three hanja words: gu, jeol, and pan in Korean.

The food

We ordered the Gujeolpan 구절판 and grilled beef (steak) for our lunch. The steak cuts were served with scallops on the side and vegetables at the bottom. The grilling resembled a mixture of western steak style with Asian flavor. Downside was that the steak cuts were a bit chewy.

Gujeolpan 구절판 was interesting. They present you with the thinly sliced beef, scallops, veggies and eggs. The eggs take center stage while the beef slices and scallops/veggies are displayed around the egg. The eggs are torch-cooked. You take the paper-thin wheat slices and wrap them with the protein and veggies of your choice. I think the experience of making your own food looks interesting but a bit challenging for business-style dining.

Conclusion

I loved the presentation, but I think the shop is more suited towards family dining. The only downside was that the steak cuts could have been better. If you plan to visit Han Mi Ok 한미옥, order the…
