[KR] Otsu Seiromushi @ Yuwha Securities Bldg 유화증권빌딩, Seoul

We stopped by Otsu Seiromushi for our business dinner. Seiromushi is a Japanese steamed cuisine or cooking method, specifically in a seiro (a bamboo steamer basket), enabling a low-calorie, healthy meal with subtle, clean flavors. The “mushi” part is the steaming method itself. Dishes typically feature ingredients including thinly sliced meat (often thin slices of beef or pork) and veggies steamed on layers of bamboo trays. Otsu is located at the basement of Yuhwa Securities Bldg 유화증권.

We started off with beautifully presented sashimi cuts. Indeed we were very impressed with the freshness and the color combination. In real-life, the dish looks a lot more exotic. Next, we had the sea squirts and they were amazingly fresh. We could smell the sea from the restaurant. While we were enjoying the dishes, the servers came and started the steaming process of the meat slices and the veggies. It was a double-decker – veggies at the bottom and the meat on top. Everything was healthy and I enjoyed the meat-vegetable combo. Next we had the marinated and grilled tuna – which was soft yet firm at the bite with sweetness. For the final menu, we had the spicy seafood soup. The soup was deep with rich seafood flavor.

Given this is steamed dish, I think it makes sense to add this place during business trips, given most of the meat menus are grilled. Order the…
