The place

Eunjujeong 은주정 is nested inside the back alley of Bangsan Markrt 방산시장. This was my first visit for dinner with a friend and it was pretty challenging to reach the destination on the first go. It wasn’t too visible from the outside, but once you reach the shop, you will be surprised at the size of the restaurant. There were so many people inside the shop. This felt like a good sign.

The food

We had samgyeopsal 삼겹살 and kimchijjigae 김치찌개 for dinner and at first bite, I fell in love. Eunjujeong was a hidden gem. We started off with the pork belly. The cast iron grill top was placed with pork lard on it. I guess the lard would be used to coat the grill plate. We started grilling our pork belly and they were nice. No smell, perfect thickness for casual dinner occasion and amazing veggies to experiment around. We also grilled the kimchi onto the plate and they were just superb.

Next we moved onto the kimchijjigae. Portion was quite big for two people and indeed we never got to finish the whole thing. They had plenty of pork bits, kimchi and tofu inside. Once it started to boil, there was  a perfect harmony between spiciness, sourness, sweetness, saltiness and geasiness.

I also loved the jjolmyeon 쫄면 that came with the samgyeopsal. I usually dont like jjolmyeon, but this one was a different breed. The noodle was so bouncy and the sauce was super savory at the bite. Must try.

There was a reason why the shop was so crowded. I loved everything that was on the table. I would always come back for more. Must try the…
