Singapore’s cult-favourite Korean BBQ has arrived in Permata Hijau, and it doesn’t disappoint. Think theatrical meat presentation, smoky grilled pork, a generous banchan spread and standout dishes like Bibim Naengmyeon. It’s a lively, crowd-pleasing spot made for sharing.

The venue
Singapore’s beloved Korean BBQ institution has landed in South Jakarta. Since 2012, OBBA has built a loyal following across the island, and its Permata Hijau outpost brings that same buzz to Kebayoran Lama. Expect sleek black marble tables with built-in grills, touches of greenery, and attentive staff who do all the grilling for you.

The food review
The show starts before the first bite. Raw cuts roll up on a trolley, displayed on lava stones and straw bundles, each paired with a king oyster mushroom branded with the OBBA logo. It’s pure theatre, and very Instagram-worthy. The thick-cut pork belly and pork neck grill to a golden crust, then get snipped into juicy, smoky bites with charred onion and mushroom. Wrap them in lettuce with a dab of ssamjang and you’ll understand the hype.

The banchan spread is generous: punchy kimchi served in a clay pot, a fluffy rolled egg omelette, sweet anchovies, pickled leaves and a fresh spicy chive salad.

Beyond the grill, the Bibim Naengmyeon is a must. Its chewy, chilled buckwheat noodles come topped with tender beef, a boiled egg and a sweet-spicy chilli sauce that cuts right through the richness of the BBQ. The Doenjang Jjigae, packed with tofu and beef, is a hearty, savoury classic, while the golden fried mandu with a scallion soy dip make the perfect crispy side. A refreshing bowl of watermelon with mint closes the meal on a light, sweet note.

The verdict
OBBA BBQ delivers premium meat, generous sides and real showmanship. It’s ideal for birthdays, team dinners or a weekend feast with friends. Come hungry, and bring a crowd.
