[ID] KHUAI LOK (APHEN) @ Telukbetung, Lampung

Rumah makan Khuai Lok (A Phen) is located in the downtown Chinatown in Lampung. The shop serves tradition Chinese food. The name of the restaurant (快樂) literally means happiness (or joy, pleasure) and that was exactly what we got when having dinner at Khuai Lok A Phen.

We had the Gurame goreng tausi (black bean sauce fried carp), kodok goreng mentaga (fried frog), and pocai (horenso). I have to say, the gurame goreng (fried fish) was one of a kind – never tasted this fresh fish in Indonesia. They were amazingly crispy and fresh at the bite. The black bean sauce was also superb when poured on the rice. It was my first experience with the kodok goreng (fried frog) and it was difficult to imagine the live frog when shoving it inside my mouth. Pocai was also fresh, crispy and flavorful. Will visit every time in Lampung.
